Reading's VF Outlets SOLD
Many of us remember back-to-school shopping at Reading's VF Outlets in the 1980s, but did you know that VF Corporation was one of the earliest outlet operators, and opened the first outlet center in the country, in Reading, Pennsylvania?
As Noble Prize winner Bob Dylan writes, "the times they are a-changing," and development changes, too. Outlet centers have sprung up in many areas now. The VF Outlets are no longer the draw they once were.
With an eye toward the future of this once -thriving location, The VF Outlet Center was sold last year to a Philadelphia-based developer, Equus, that plans to demolish parts of the center and redevelop other parts of the center into a mixed-use office and retail campus. Work will commence in the Spring; Equus hopes to have it completed by the end of 2018.
